We had that winning feeling back and we were looking to notch up another win against a side we had already beaten this year. Unfortunately Mcleod had other ideas and for the first half we were completely outplayed by a side who was desperate to sing their song for the first time since round 1. Mcleod was first to the ball every time and were more willing to put their bodies on the line and play a team game. We looked flat during the warm up but nobody was anticipating we would come out and play our worst half of footy for the season.
At half time we went into the rooms eight goals down but i told the boys to forget about the scoreboard and i challenged them to start the game again and come away from the match with their heads held high. From the moment the siren blew to start the third quarter we awoke from our slumber and we started to dominate the game all over the ground.All of a sudden we were first to the ball and were winning the ball out of the centre at will and hitting targets in our forward line. In a dominant second half we outscored Mcleod six goals to two but it wasn't enough to get us over the line going down by 17 pts. It was a disappointing loss but it was very pleasing that the boys responded when challenged and it proves that footy is played ninety percent between the ears. We look forward to next week and the chance to atone and play four good quarters of footy...
