2012 Pre-Season Survey – Summary of Key Results

1.  Overall, there is a high level of satisfaction among BHJFC members

  • 92% of BHJFC survey participants are satisfied (satisfied/very satisfied) with their membership of the Club
2.  Members have told us that there are improvements we can make to the registration process
  • Although the majority of survey participants believe that the registration information is relatively clear and easy to understand, several suggested improvements were identified
  • Key suggestions from survey participants:Provide an online registration process, with the option of paying online:
    • Provide an online registration process, with the option of paying online
    • Make it easier by pre-filling membership renewal information, so that members can simply update their information rather than have to supply everything again each season
    • Make the registration information easier to find on the Club website
3.  The Coaching program at BHJFC was heavily endorsed by the clear majority of survey participants
  • 86% of respondents believe the coaching program is relevant to the needs of their child
  • 83% of respondents believe that the coaches at BHJFC have the necessary skills and experience to carry out their role effectively
  • 78% of respondents believe that coaches have the right support to do their job
  • 86% of respondents believe that coaches are open and approachable
  • Survey participants suggested that coaches should continue to provide feedback on the development of players to parents, and that BHJFC should continue to invest in the development of the coaching personnel

4.  Team Managers are well regarded, but a small number of participants indicated the need for greater support for Team Managers to do their roles

  • 89% of survey respondents believe Team Managers are well organised
  • 7% of respondents disagreed that Team Managers have the right support and resources to carry out their roles effectively
  • Suggestions from participants included the need for more help from parents to spread the load (particularly on match days), and a need for greater consistency in the skills of Team Managers

5.  Overall, BHJFC facilities were rated well in terms of training grounds and their locations, but some specific feedback was received about the clubrooms and their appearance

  • Survey participants highlighted the need for more toilets at Zerbes Reserve, particularly female toilets
  • The general cleanliness of the Zerbes clubrooms was raised as being unsatisfactory (9% of respondents told us the facilities at Zerbes were not well presented), and additional comments were received about the poor state of some of the furniture in the rooms

6.  Communication preferences of survey participants indicate a clear desire for email, SMS and the club website as the best ways to communicate

  • Email is ranked #1, SMS is ranked #2 and the club website is ranked #3 as the preferred way to communicate

7.  Survey participants strongly indicated support for improvements to First Aid at BHJFC

  • Survey participants rated the importance of having First Aid trained and qualified coaches, team managers and trainers as 4.3 out of 5
  • In addition, participants rated the provision of professional First Aid support at BHJFC matches as 3.8 out of 5
  • 64% of participants indicated that they wanted Defibrillators at BHJFC home grounds, and 94% of members indicated they would be prepared to pay an additional levy to support provision of First Aid and the purchase of Defibrillators for Zerbes Reserve and Leeds St

8.  A perceived lack of time prevents more members becoming involved with their club

  • 69% of participants indicated they couldn’t get involved due to work commitments; and 54% of respondents indicated that other weekend sporting commitments prevented them getting more involved
  • Additionally, 34% of respondents indicated that they would help more, but were unable to commit over a full season

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN RESPONSE TO 2012 PRE-SEASON SURVEY

1.  First Aid

  • We now have defibrillator machines permanently located at Zerbes and Leeds Street reserves.
  • We have been trialling the provision of First Aid professionals at our home games in the latter part of this season, and will be undertaking a review prior to season 2013 to determine if this will continue.
  • First Aid training has been made available to all members of the Committee, Coaching panel, Team Managers and Trainers.

2.  Facilities

  • Increased cleaning of the rooms was initiated in season 2012.
  • Discussions are continuing with the Zerbes Reserve Management Committee about upgrading chairs and tables in the clubrooms.
  • The issue of toilets has been escalated for inclusion in Manningham City Council’s management plan for Zerbes Reserve re-development.

3.  Registration

  • An online registration system is being evaluated by the Committee for season 2013
